About the Photo
There is an old saying that Colorado gets 300 days of sunshine per year, hence the name the Sunshine State. It is not uncommon to have bluebird skies on many summer mornings. While the Maroon Bells are known for their classic autumn colors, I also love them when they are draped in summer green. The morning I shot this, there was very little wind, making for a very crisp reflection in Maroon Lake below. Alpineglow light the Maroon Bells up nicely, with snow still clinging to the peaks well into July.
