About the Photo
So many times, visitors to the Kalalau lookout find the view completely socked in. As the mountains here get an astonishing amount of rainfall, it goes without saying that the cliffs are often shrouded in clouds as well. On this trip to the lookout, however, I was blessed with some nice views of the cliffs and ocean 4,000 feet below. The sun was mostly obscured by clouds, but occasionally, a beam of light would hit the cliffs. This particular one hit the cliffs in a nice horizontal streak that crossed the verticial cliff ledges very nicely. Clouds were still drifting in and out causing an ethereal scene of pure beauty. This abstract closeup of the cliffs shows the intimate details in the valley walls.
