About the Photo
When I arrived at Cowley Lake Waterfall, I found that almost all the trees had lost their leaves. I had been trying to get down there to shoot some fall colors for weeks but just couldn't find the time to do it. However, the ground was still saturated with leaves that had fallen. Some had fallen into the stream that ran from the waterfall. When I shot this, a clump of leaves had broken off the edge of the little falls and created a swirl of gold motion in the water, as Cowley Lake Waterfall poured over the cliff edge in the background.
