About the Photo
This was taken during my very first trip to the Portland Japanese Garden and it’s beautiful and very famous Japanese Maple tree. It wasn’t quite in full peak color yet, but rather it was in a transitional phase. Some leaves had turned yellow. Others had gone orange. Even a few select leaves were almost at their red peak. And yet some were still fairly green. I heard a local photographer remark that he had been shooting the tree for over a decade and had never caught it in such a transitional phase like this, where different parts of it were in different levels of change. Whether it really was that unique or not, I’m not sure. But it sure made for a beautiful scene!
