About the Photo
The aurora (better known as the Northern Lights) made it all the way down into Kansas on the night I photographed this from the Flint Hills. Green and purple pillars shone in the midnight sky to the north of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve where I shot this. This was the second time I have photographed the beautiful aurora borealis in Kansas. A meteor also streaked across the sky to the left of the schoolhouse as I shot this during the peak of the Lyrids meteor shower.
