About the Photo
While the famous rockpile view of Moraine Lake in beautiful Banff National Park, Canada is the classic scene of this lake, there is also something iconic about canoes on a lake in the Canadian Rockies. With very little wind on the morning I shot this, the canoes stayed almost perfectly still in the water, allowing not only tack sharp details, but also a very distinct reflection of the mountains above. Those mountains, called the Valley of Ten Peaks, were dappled in post-sunrise alpineglow light. The soft colors and sharp details of the entire scene make for a wonderful scene at one of the most iconic locations in Canada!
