About the Photo
Wave after wave was crashing in on the morning that I visited Scripps Pier in La Jolla, California. This pier is a very famous old pier on the coast of southern California. The full name of the pier is Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier, named after her when the modern pier was built in 1988 to replace the original 1916 pier. The pier belongs to UC San Diegos Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Scripps Pier is a wonderful place to watch the waves come in. While the morning was fairly overcast, I thought it complimented the scene almost better than if a fiery sunset was lighting up the sky. Something about it had that lost at sea feeling that drew me in as I looked through the windowed corridors of the pillars that frame Scripps Pier.
