My name is Mickey Shannon and I'm a fine art landscape & nature photographer. I sell luxury limited edition fine art nature photography prints to collectors both in the United States and in many countries around the world. You can read more about my entire journey as a professional photography on the About Mickey section of this website.
I sell the vast majority of my fine art photography here on my website. I also travel with my "mobile art gallery" to various art festivals and home shows around the country. I have an event schedule on my website with all upcoming events.
Questions About My Prints
The different print mediums and styles I offer for my fine art photography differ quite a bit and can certainly offer a unique viewing experience. Here is a fairly simple guide to both open and limited edition styles:
If you have a frame you want to use, or plan to take your artwork to a framer, purchasing a loose print is what you need. This is my only print medium that does not come ready to hang.
Plaque mounts and premium plaque mounts are a great option for those that want a modern and sleek look. Mountain and forest images can go great on a plaque mount. Adding a frame to limited edition premium plaque mount prints can give it that touch of elegance as well! Regardless of whether you choose a frame, all plaque mounts come ready to hang.
Open edition canvases have a softer look to them and are ideal for light and airy spaces. They go well with photography that features pastel like colors and can be great for those light or dreamy images. Beach and ocean photography is usually great on canvas! Canvases come ready to hang. If you want to purchase a limited edition as a canvas, this option is also available. Please inquire, as the option is not listed on product pages.
Both open edition and limited edition metal prints are for those stand-out images. Want something modern and sleek that stands out? Metal has an HD quality to it. Like the other styles, metal comes ready to hang.
Acrylic is my favorite medium. I offer standard acrylic for open edition prints and Lumachrome TruLife acrylic on my limited edition fine art pieces. Lumachrome in particular is by far the most beautiful style of fine art you can buy. If you're looking for a statement piece, this is it! Lumachrome acrylic's can be framed with Italian hand-made ROMA moulding frames in a variety of formats. All acrylic products come ready to hang, frame or no frame.
Feel free to read more on each medium on the limited edition print mediums and open edition print mediums pages.
Artwork should compliment the space that it will be showcased. In a perfect world, you would design your space around your artwork, but in most cases, a collector is looking to add a new piece or multiple pieces to an existing setup. Different spaces require different sizes. You can contact me for a free quick interior design mockup of your space by visiting the interior design consultation page. If it helps, 60x40" tends to be a favorite size of collectors as it fits most spaces, from bedrooms to living rooms to businesses and office wall space. But sometimes you need something a little smaller or larger. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss!
I do! Most of the sizing options on my website are meant to give you a set of standard sizes to choose from without being overwhelmed. If you have a wall space that needs a custom size, feel free to reach out to me to discuss it! Creative cropping of art can also be done if you need to fill a space that doesn't quite work with the standard sizes.
Limited edition fine art prints are numbered in editions of 50, 100 or 200, depending on the image. Once that many editions of a photograph have been sold, the image is retired, never to be printed again.
I also offer some images as open editions. Unlike limited editions, these are not signed or numbered. Those can be found while browsing my online collections by location or subject. You can also find older open edition images in the search archive.
Each limited edition is also offered in a very exclusively numbered Artist Proof set. I typically only produce five (5) of these Artist Proof editions, and they are generally kept by me or sold on request to collectors wanting something truly unique! If you are interested in an Artist Proof of an image, please contact me for more information.
My limited edition fine art prints come signed and numbered. Open edition prints are not signed.
I work with a select few print vendors that I trust to send my collectors a high quality fine art product. These printers were selected for the quality of their work.

Shipping & Delivery Questions
Different print mediums have different production and shipping times. Photographic paper prints (Fuji Crystal Archive and open edition loose prints) take around two weeks. Chromaluxe metal prints take 1-3 weeks depending on size. Gallery mount and open edition plaque mount prints take 2-4 weeks. Lumachrome Trulife Acrylic prints generally take 3-4 weeks. For pieces being externally framed or pieces larger than 60", please allow an additional 7-10 days.
Yes! I have worked directly with numerous international collectors and would be glad to work with you as well. Please reach out to me and I can get a shipping quote. Certain print mediums may be slightly different, as I do work with an international printer for certain print mediums to keep your cost down while still ensuring a quality product.
International collectors are responsible for all international taxes, duties, customs and fees that are associated with the purchase of fine art. There also may be some taxes for U.S. customers depending on location.
Care & Handling
All print mediums, which the exception of loose Fuji Crystal Archive fine art prints and open edition prints, come ready to hang as-is without external framing. These print mediums come with either wire hanger or french cleat hanging systems.
Please see my artwork lighting guide for help in properly lighting your new fine art piece(s).
Typically a microfiber cloth is all that is needed to clean any style of prints. But if you need a deeper clean, each print type has different requirements for what can be used. Gallery mount prints can be cleaned with a simple damp cloth. For stubborn fingerprints and such on a Chromaluxe metal print, a little bit of denatured alcohol, acetone or goo gone applied to a microfiber cloth will do the trick.. Smudges and fingerprints on a Lumachrome TruLife can be cleaned with any non-ammonia cleaner such as Windex.
Returns & Exchanges
I can safely say in all of the years of selling limited edition fine art nature photography prints, I have never had a print arrive damaged. That said, accidents can happen. If you do receive a print that's been damaged, document it with photos of the internal product along with the packaging materials and send those to me directly by email. Because of insurance requirements, I have to have this information within 48 hours of delivery to insure that a replacement can be made free of charge. Once I have that documentation, a replacement will be immediately put into production so that it will be sent to you as timely as possible.
I use a number of shipping companies to deliver my prints. All prints are fully insured to ensure they are not lost and arrives undamaged.
Because of the custom nature of my work, I cannot accept returns. Exchanges for future print purchase credit can be made, but shipping of original piece is the responsibility of the purchaser.
Other Questions
I offer calendars in the fall each year. I usually only do a small run so that I don't get left with extras in the new year that can't be sold. Keep an eye out around August or September of each year for the next calendar editions. I also plan to publish a high quality coffee table style book of my photography in the near future, so keep an eye out for that!
Images may not be reproduced, printed, copied, manipulated or reproduced in any way without permission of Mickey Shannon Photography. I do offer competitive rates on licensing my photography for marketing purposes, magazine publication and other uses. If you are interested in licensing an image for use, please reach out to me on my image licensing page and I will get back to you as quickly as possible!
Unfortunately I have very little extra time these days. What extra time I have I want to spend with my family. That said, I hope to put out some instructional materials and potentially offer a workshop or two in the coming year or so.
Many people think that running a nature photography business is all traveling and photographing beautiful scenery. Truth be told, being in the field is just a small fraction of where I have to spend my time. Marketing, showing my work at shows, working on website features, social media updates, accounting and other "boring" business details take up a huge amount of my time. So when I do go out and photograph, I actually really enjoy that solitude of just being alone in nature, taking it all in as I try to capture it with my camera. Having said that, I do hope to release a few books in the coming years that gives more insight into my travels, scouting and photography trips that might be of interest!
